How we handle your data

Short version: We collect the minimum we need to pay you and run the service. We never sell your personal data. The price data you submit is what we commercialize, and you get 50% of the revenue it generates. You can ask us to delete your account and all associated personal data at any time.

1. Who we are

Liksy is operated by Del Mundo Kft., a company registered in Hungary (Budapest, Hungary). For privacy questions, data requests, or GDPR rights, contact privacy@liksy.app.

Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Del Mundo Kft. is the data controller for the information you provide to Liksy.

2. What data we collect

2.1 Account data

When you sign up, we collect your email address, a hashed password, and your display name (or a name derived from your email). You may also optionally provide a country and city.

2.2 Price data you submit

When you scan a price tag or upload a receipt, our AI extracts structured information from the image. This includes:

Product name, brand, size, and barcode if visible
Price, currency, and category
Store name (where detectable)
Location of the price observation (from photo EXIF data or your device GPS, with your permission)
Timestamp

We do not store the original images. The image is processed on our servers to extract the structured fields above, and the image itself is discarded. Only ~200 bytes of structured data per scan is retained.

2.3 Payment data

When you request a withdrawal, we store your chosen payment method (Wise, PayPal, bank, Revolut) and the destination (email, IBAN, or account identifier) so we can pay you. This data is encrypted.

2.4 Technical data

When you use the service, our servers automatically log standard information including your IP address, browser type, device type, and interaction timestamps. This is used for security, abuse prevention, and service operation.

3. What we do with your data

3.1 Running your account

We use your account data to authenticate you, credit your earnings, and process your withdrawals. We send you transactional emails (email confirmation, password reset, welcome, scan milestones, withdrawal updates, supplier application status) related to your use of the service.

3.2 Commercializing price data

The price observations you submit are aggregated with those of other users and made available to enterprise clients (brands, retailers, researchers, financial analysts) through our data products. This is the core of our business.

When data is sold, 50% of the revenue attributable to your submissions is credited to your Liksy account as earnings. See our Terms of Service for the detailed revenue-sharing mechanics.

Price data is not personal data — it describes a product sold at a location, not you. Your individual identity is not attached to the price records shared with clients. However, location and timestamp metadata is included at city/district resolution, not at exact-address resolution.

3.3 Improving the service

We use aggregate, de-identified data to improve our AI extraction models, detect fraud and abuse, and measure service quality. We do not train AI models on personally identifying information.

4. Your GDPR rights

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or any jurisdiction with similar data protection law, you have the following rights:

Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data.
Erasure — request deletion of your account and personal data.
Restriction — ask us to stop processing your data in certain circumstances.
Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format.
Objection — object to specific processing activities.
Complaint — lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. In Hungary, this is the National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (NAIH).

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@liksy.app. We respond within 30 days.

Important note on erasure: When you delete your account, your personal data (email, name, payment details) is deleted. However, the anonymized price observations you previously submitted remain in our datasets, as they are anonymized commercial data rather than personal data. This is standard practice for data aggregation services.

5. Data retention

Account data: kept while your account is active, deleted within 30 days of account closure.
Price observations: retained indefinitely in anonymized form as part of our commercial dataset.
Payment records: retained for 7 years for tax and regulatory compliance, as required by Hungarian law.
Server logs: typically 90 days, up to 1 year for security investigations.

6. How we share data

6.1 Service providers we use

We use the following third-party providers to run Liksy. Each processes limited data on our behalf under contract:

Hosting and database — our servers and database are located in the European Union.
Email delivery — a transactional email provider sends our service emails (confirmation, welcome, etc). Located in the EU.
AI processing — a large-language-model provider processes submitted images to extract price data. Images are processed transiently and not retained.
Payment providers — Wise, PayPal, bank transfer providers, and Revolut, only when you request a withdrawal.

6.2 Enterprise clients

Enterprise clients who purchase access to our price data do not receive your personal account information. They receive aggregated or row-level price observations where the collector is identified only by an opaque, non-reversible identifier.

6.3 Legal compliance

We may disclose information if legally required by Hungarian or EU authorities, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Liksy, our users, or others.

We do not sell your personal data to advertisers or data brokers.

7. Cookies and tracking

We use essential cookies only — to keep you signed in and remember your session. We do not use advertising cookies, Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or similar third-party tracking technologies.

8. Security

We use industry-standard security practices: encrypted connections (HTTPS), encrypted payment details at rest, hashed passwords, and access control on our internal systems. No online service is completely immune to attack, but we take our obligations seriously and will notify affected users within 72 hours of discovering any breach of personal data, as required by GDPR.

9. Children

Liksy is not intended for users under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has submitted data, contact us at privacy@liksy.app and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service evolves. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email and show the updated policy at this URL, with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use after a change indicates your acceptance.
